Split an invoice line across allocations

Split one invoice line across the allocation values your company uses, then check that the split equals the line amount.

Who can do this

You need company:invoice:edit, and the distribution field must be editable on the invoice line.

Before you start

Distribution splits are schema- and ERP-dependent. Continue only if the full line editor shows a distribution or allocation field for your company.

Steps

  1. Open an invoice from Invoices or Tasks.
  2. Find the line you want to split and select its pencil action, labelled Edit {segment noun}.
  3. Find your company's distribution or allocation field in the full line editor.
  4. Select the plus button at the right edge of that field's header to add an allocation row.
  5. Choose the allocation values required by your company schema.
  6. Select Split evenly when every row should receive an equal amount.
  7. To use percentages instead, select Distribute by %, enter the percentages, then select Apply %.
  8. Check the remaining amount and select Done.

What you should see

The split rows show the allocation fields configured for your company. The editor shows Remainder to allocate while part of the line is unassigned and Over allocated when the split is greater than the line amount.

Remove an existing split

  1. Open the line's Edit {segment noun} dialog.
  2. Open More line actions in the editor footer.
  3. Select Remove distribution splits.
  4. Review the confirmation, then select Remove.

Remove distribution splits appears only when distribution data already exists on the line.

If something goes wrong

  • If the distribution field is missing, your company schema or ERP integration may not support it on that line type.
  • If Split evenly or Distribute by % is missing, the configured field does not expose the distribution-split controls.
  • If the editor shows a remainder or an over-allocation, correct the row amounts or percentages before you continue.
