Understand autosave and validation

Invoice field and line edits save automatically, then validation checks the current invoice data.

What happens after an edit

  1. Change an editable header field or invoice line field.
  2. Finish the field edit by moving focus away from the control.
  3. Keep the invoice open while Clerked saves the change.
  4. Review any validation result that appears after the save.

There is no separate save button for normal invoice edits. The exact autosave state labels could not be verified for this release, so this article does not name them.

Undo or redo an invoice change

  1. Find the edit-history controls in the invoice header near the title.
  2. Select Undo last change to reverse the most recent invoice-level change.
  3. Select Redo last change to reapply a change you just undid.
  4. Wait for the invoice to save the new state before you continue.

Undo and redo belong to the invoice, not only to Ask Clark. A change accepted from Clark and a manual field edit can both enter the invoice's edit history.

Read validation results

Document-level notice counts appear as chips in the invoice title area. Open a chip such as 4 Exceptions or 8 Warnings to review the current results.

Line validation also appears on the affected row and field. Open the field error control for the exact message, then correct the source field and let autosave run validation again.

If something goes wrong

  • If a value does not remain after you leave the field, keep the invoice open, check your connection, and confirm the current value before editing again.
  • If an undo or redo control is unavailable, there may be no eligible change in that direction or the current invoice state may block it.
  • If a validation message remains, open its affected field instead of repeating unrelated edits.
